A Washington Whirlwind!
Forgive my cheezy alliteration but it’s an accurate description of my week so far as an AVMA-GRD extern. Monday and Tuesday are a blur to me now as I spent both days up on Capitol Hill on both the House and Senate sides “tagging along” on visits. It was an excellent way to see firsthand how our government system works and be blown away by how little I know! Today is Veteran’s day. Everything is shut down, so I was able to catch my breath and let my feet recover from treading from office to office (note to self- don’t wear heels over cobblestone). And of course, it truly is a whirlwind outside with the remnants of Hurricane Ida torturing us with rain and wind. Oh, and because I’ve seen the movie, The American President, so many times, I had to go see Dupont Circle today which is literally only a ½ block from the office. It wasn’t as big as I thought it would be, but there were some cool shops there. ‘Til next time.
